Privacy policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
This policy covers the Pauta app installed on your computer, on any operating system. It explains what stays on your machine, what reaches Pauta servers and what depends on services you choose to use.
Your content stays on your computer
Recordings, transcripts, summaries and settings are saved on your computer. Pauta does not send this content to its own servers and has no access to it.
The files are yours. If you send a recording, transcript or summary to someone else or to a third-party service, that transfer is your responsibility.
OpenAI and Anthropic
The OpenAI and Anthropic integration is optional. When you add an API key, the app sends the request content straight to the provider you picked, using your key, without going through Pauta servers.
That use follows the provider terms and privacy policy and is your responsibility, as are keeping the key safe and paying for the account.
Apple speech recognition
On macOS the default transcription engine is Apple speech recognition. When you are online, the system may send the audio to Apple servers for transcription, under the Apple privacy policy. To keep the audio from ever leaving your computer, pick one of the local engines in the transcription settings.
The license is the only connection to Pauta
The app talks to Pauta servers only to validate the license and the trial period. For that we keep the purchase email, the license key, a device identifier derived from the hardware and the activation dates. The identifier holds neither your name nor anything you record.
The IP address of each validation is kept for a short time, only to curb abuse.
Payment goes through a payment company, which receives the card details. Pauta never sees or stores them.
Models and updates
The app downloads its transcription and summary models from a public repository and checks whether a new version exists. These requests carry no personal data and none of your content.
