How to transcribe Google Meet meetings with no bot
Pauta captures your computer audio during the Google Meet call and transcribes on the device itself. No bot joins the room, and you do not install anything inside Meet.
Step by step
- Open Pauta on macOS or Windows.
- Join Google Meet in the browser as usual.
- Pauta notices the meeting and records, or you turn recording on right then.
- When the call ends, read the transcript and the summary in Pauta.
What matters on Meet
- Meet runs in a browser tab, and the tab's sound goes out through the system like any other audio. That is the sound Pauta records.
- With no bot, the meeting does not depend on Google or the domain admin accepting an outside participant.
- Pauta keeps everything on your computer. The conversation does not go through Pauta servers.
What Pauta does not do
- Pauta runs on macOS 13 or later and on Windows 10 and 11. The iOS and Android versions are still being built.
- It does not show up in the meeting participant list, so telling people the conversation is being recorded is up to you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Chrome extension for Pauta to work?
No. Pauta is an app installed on your computer and it captures the system audio.
Does Pauta work if I am not the Meet organizer?
It does. It records the sound playing on your computer, whatever your role in the meeting.
Does it matter which browser I use?
No. Pauta records the system audio, not a specific browser's, so Chrome, Edge, Safari and others count the same.
